All students are eligible to receive honors status in the MBA Program.  There is no rounding of GPA in determining honors designations.  Honors status is based on a student's cumulative GPA at graduation and are as follows:

  • 4.0 Highest Honors (Summa Cum Laude)
  • 3.8 High Honors (Magna Cum Laude)
  • 3.6 Honors (Cum Laude)

Due to the short lead time between when final grades are due and graduation, the final honors designations will not be printed on your diploma or in the Graduate Business Programs Graduation Ceremony program.  The final honors status will be announced as your name is called to receive your diploma.

Beta Gamma Sigma
Two-Year and One-Year MBA students who are ranked in the top 20 percent of their class are eligible for Beta Gamma Sigma induction.  The ranking is based on Two-Year Program students' cumulative GPA after Fall semester of second year and One-Year Program students' cumulative GPA after Spring (graduation) semester to determine eligibility.  Click here for more information on Beta Gamma Sigma at Notre Dame.

Once the gown is on, the proper wearing of the hood is an essential part of the overall prestigious look.  First, place the hood around your neck and shoulders so that the major portion hangs down the back and the velvet is up.  Fasten the cord in front of the hood to your shirt, dress, or gown to keep the hood away from your neck.  From a frontal view, the velvet border should be closest toward your neck.  Fasten the cord to the buttons that are at the top back of the hood.  The cord helps to keep the hood in place to show the lining.  To expose the lining, turn the velvet border to the outside.
